Day 1 on the track

Featured / Wednesday, July 17th, 2019

Yesterday marked our first day racing on the Texas Motor Speedway track. The car and team exceeded expectations! We completed 168 laps in the 7.5 hour racing time slot. This surpassed the previous track record for completing the most amount of laps on the first day of the race!

Over the course of the day we drove hard, draining our battery to 20% of maximum capacity by the end of the day. Fortunately we were able to effectively use charging time at the end of the day in order to recuperate much of those losses. We left Monday night about 8 pm with our battery charged to just under 80%. Tuesday morning, the Green Energy Team made an early arrival at the Texas Motor Speedway. We got right back to work raising the solar array to charge the main battery and harvest more power from the early morning sunrise. After batteries were charged to 100%, the team headed over to the west garage to receive the final results from the first day’s race. RAHS Green Energy Team secured the first place win in the Advanced Division and we were presented with a trophy for our achievements! The team is ready and eager to compete in day two of the race! Go RAHS Green Energy Team!
