Abigail Jawili, Sophomore
We welcome Abigail back for her second year on the Green Energy Team. Abigail has been involved in a variety of mechanical, electrical, and logistical tasks for the team. Her leadership and project management skills help the team stay focused and on an upward trajectory. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Abigail participates in competitive high school and club soccer.
Team Captain Alexis Lee, Junior
We welcome Alexis back for her third year on the Green Energy Team. Throughout 2020, she helped lead the team during an extremely difficult time, finding solutions to continue progress during the global COVID-19 Pandemic. As a captain for the 2021 National Championship team, she brings a special leadership and experience to the new season. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Alexis spends much of her time working towards her private pilot’s license and participates in competitive club soccer.
Ali Karim, Junior
We welcome Ali back for his third year on the Green Energy Team. He joined the team to learn more about a project that incorporates engineering and solar energy. With a background in CAD, he mainly applies his work with our mechanical team, and also helps complete tasks for the strategy team. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Ali enjoys reading, sleeping and hanging out with friends.
Atticus Caudle, Freshman
We welcome Atticus to his first year on the Green Energy Team. He joined the team because he wanted to improve his knowledge of engineering and solar energy. He has quickly become an asset, taking hold of structural and mechanical tasks. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Atticus enjoys spending his time outdoors.
Dakshita (Daksh) Sharma, Freshman
We welcome Daksh to their first year on the Green Energy Team. They joined because they wanted to improve their STEM knowledge and teamwork skills. Excited about the idea of building a solar car, they have tackled many different tasks from a variety of our sub-teams already. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Daksh can be found playing guitar, roller blading, painting and drawing and hanging out with their friends.
Daniel Sung, Sophomore
We welcome Daniel back to his second year on the Green Energy Team. Daniel joined the team because he is passionate about cars, and was intrigued by such an interesting project. Daniel’s creativity is shown through his CAD models and prototypes, always looking for an opportunity to improve the structural aspect of the car. Outside the Green Energy Team, Daniel can be found rock climbing, hiking, swimming, or hanging out with friends.
Dylan Berger, Junior
We welcome Dylan to his first year on the Green Energy Team. He joined the team because he hoped to build his engineering skills as well as had an interest in the idea of solar energy and working with solar panels. He is especially interested in electrical, programming, and data analysis and has already taken lead on major electrical tasks. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Dylan enjoys reading and playing video games.
Edward (Teddie) Blahous, Senior
We welcome Teddie back as a veteran of the team, making this his fourth year on the Green Energy Team. He was a founding member of the club, joining back in 2018, and helped the team win their first National Solar Car Challenge Championship in 2019. He was again selected for the 2021 Solar Car Challenge travel team, making him a 2 time National Solar Car Champion. Teddie has grown with the club taking on leadership roles, and has become an experienced mentor to new members. He focuses his work on CAD, welding, and manufacturing projects with the team.
Eliada Tran, Freshman
We welcome Eliada to her first year on the Green Energy Team. Eliada joined the team because she has an interest in engineering and wanted to gain hands-on experience in different fields. Eliada has expressed great interest in CAD projects that allow her to get her hands working on the car. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Eliada enjoys reading, sleeping and playing card games.
Emily Batig, Junior
We welcome Emily back to her second year on the Green Energy Team. She is a 2021 National Solar Car Champion, contributing greatly even through a global pandemic. Emily has taken on the bulk of our outreach and documentation efforts, but still leaves time to work on structural tasks. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Emily spends a lot of time working towards obtaining her Private Pilot’s license.
Eric Nguyen, Sophomore
We welcome Eric back to his second year on the Green Energy Team. He joined the team because he wanted to learn more about electronics and computer programming as well as collaborating with like-minded students. With a strong work ethic and curiosity, he takes on a variety of tasks from our electrical, mechanical, and logistics teams. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Eric can be found watching YouTube and hanging out with friends and family.
Evan Payauys, Junior
We welcome Evan Payauys to his first year on the Green Energy Team. He joined the team because he was interested in manufacturing opportunities on the car. With an interest in structural tasks, specifically welding, he is excited to get into the build season. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Evan can be found flying planes, playing ukulele and trading stocks.
Greta Kim, Freshman
We welcome Greta to her first year on the Green Energy Team. She joined because she wanted to learn about how cars are built, specifically in the context of renewable energy. Greta is an extremely quick learner, mastering the fundamentals of CAD within weeks. She has an interest in the car’s structural and electrical tasks. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Greta likes to read and draw.
Hai Lin Truman, Junior
We welcome Hai Lin back to his third year on the Green Energy Team. Hai Lin served as a Captain for the 2021 National Solar Car Challenge, helping to lead the team to their second national victory back-to-back. With a solid understanding of the working parts of the solar car, he was a critical part of engineering and integrating all of the car’s systems together. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Hai Lin is working towards his Private Pilot’s license, enjoys skiing, and playing soccer.
Kaley Hoang, Sophomore
We welcome Kaley to her first year on the Green Energy Team. Kaley joined the team because she was interested in the hands-on experience solar cars would provide, and a new mode to take care of our environment. She has an interest in completing electrical and mechanical tasks, and has already started contributing to the intense solar panel projects. Outside of the Green Energy Team, she is a part of Science Olympiad and key club and enjoys baking, playing piano, guitar and tennis and making art.
Kean Timblin, Sophomore
We welcome Kean to his first year on the Green Energy Team. Kean joined the solar car team because he had an interest in science and learning about green energy and solar power. He is especially interested in electrical or telemetry tasks, and has become a contributor to the solar panel projects. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Kean enjoys reading, drawing, hanging out with friends and participating in other clubs.
Lily Andrews, Freshman
We welcome Lily to her first year on the Green Energy Team. Lily joined because she wanted to push herself out of her comfort zone, and try something completely new. She has quickly stepped up into important outreach roles to support the team. She also enjoys completing various engineering tasks including mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and CAD. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Lily can be found dancing, acting, writing and camping.
Lovie Sia, Freshman
We welcome Lovie to her first year on the Green Energy Team. Lovie joined the team because she had an interest in engineering and was excited to take part in a new learning experience. Lovie immediately took interest in structural tasks, allowing her to utilizing her new CAD skills set. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Lovie enjoys reading, baking, sewing, quilting, and volunteering in her middle school library.
Lucien Freemesser, Junior
We welcome Lucien back to his third year on the Green Energy Team. Lucien was an asset to the 2021 National Solar Car Challenge Championship team, taking lead on the car’s electrical and electronic systems. As a dedicated member from the beginning, he continues to lead the team’s electrical efforts, while prototyping and designing the CAD models of the new car. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Lucien can be found sailing and spending his time outdoors.
Maya Peña, Senior
We welcome Maya back to her third year on the Green Energy Team. Maya has quickly become the most accomplished fundraiser for the club, raising over $150,000, and leads the team’s fundraising and outreach efforts. Maya was a critical part of the 2021 National Solar Car Championship win, leading the team in her own unique ways. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Maya enjoys lacrosse, hiking, sailing, caring for houseplants and baking.
Nicholas Warfield, Freshman
We welcome Nicholas to his first year on the Green Energy Team. He joined the team because he enjoys working on a team to complete STEM projects. Nicholas is a critical thinker, using his past experience to engineer new solutions for the mechanical aspect of the car. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Nicholas enjoys playing guitar and saxophone, reading, riding his bike, and hanging out with friends.
Olivia Shih, Freshman
We welcome Olivia to her first year on the Green Energy Team. She joined the team because she wanted to learn about engineering and renewable energy. Olivia takes interest in mechanical tasks on the car. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Olivia can be found playing competitive high school and club soccer.
Opal Heltzel, Junior
We welcome Opal to her first year on the Green Energy team. She joined the team because she was interested in learning about renewable energy and engineering. Opal is an asset to the electrical team, becoming a driving factor behind the progress of our solar panels. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Opal is a part of the Science Olympiad and plays violin in orchestra.
Quinton Pho, Junior
We welcome Quinton to his first year on the Green Energy team. He joined the team because he was interested in learning about engineering in the context of building a solar car. Quinton is most interested in taking on tasks that have to do with race strategy, outreach, and occasionally mechanical engineering. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Quinton likes to do art, trade stocks, game, drum, and work on web development.
Riley Wiggen, Freshman
We welcome Riley to his first year on the Green Energy Team. He joined the team because he is very interested in engineering and electrical work and wanted to offer his skills to the team. He is interested in completing tasks that relate to electrical work, and has brought great knowledge surrounding electronics. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Riley enjoys working on small scale projects, playing video games, and talking to friends.
Sukhman Khangura, Freshman
We welcome Sukhman to his first year on the Green Energy Team. He joined the team after seeing the car and becoming very interested in the project. Sukhman is an ambitious worker, taking lead on the 2022 Cross Country route profiling project. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Sukhman can be found coding, playing video games and watching Netflix.
Thomas Bissell, Freshman
We welcome Thomas to his first year on the Green Energy Team. He joined the team because he had an interest in physics, electronics and engineering. On the team, Thomas has an interest in completing tasks related to electronics. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Thomas enjoys golf, piano, talking to friends, video games, and reading.
Thomas Kebede, Senior
We welcome Thomas back for his second year on the Green Energy Team. He was a part of the 2021 National Solar Car Championship team, contributing to both mechanical and electrical teams. Thomas joined the team because he was interested in constructing a solar powered car, and the experience of racing it among other schools. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Thomas enjoys watching movies and hanging out with friends and family.
Timothy Jou, Sophomore
We welcome Timothy back for his second year on the Green Energy Team. As a freshman, Timothy was a crucial part of the 2021 Solar Car Challenge Championship team, taking and leading the bulk of the team’s race strategy. Timothy continues to lead the strategy and telemetry projects, taking the 2022 Solar Car Challenge cross country race head on. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Timothy enjoys programming, and learning about math, science, and planes.
Whittaker Grant, Junior
We welcome Whittaker back for his third year on the Green Energy Team. He assisted in race strategy efforts for the 2021 National Solar Car Challenge Championship team. Whittaker focuses his work on data acquisition and strategy though he also hopes to work on structural tasks on the car. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Whittaker enjoys playing sports, eating new foods, going to the beach, and debate.
Zach Olsson, Sophomore
We welcome Zach back for his second year on the Green Energy Team. He has taken on structural and mechanical work for the new car, utilizing his knowledge from his own racing experience. This year he has stepped up, taking on major structural and mechanical tasks. Outside of the Green Energy Team, Zach enjoys sports and racing cars.
